ANNOUNCEMENT: meeting of Pest Control Ukraine on June 14, 2024

In a time of uncertainty, when we are looking for peace and stability, we must realize that the business we do will always be there, because it is needed in any society. Another thing is how the rules for functioning will be determined, and this is 100% up to us, active market participants. Could we have radically changed the situation earlier, achieved compliance with the law, reduced corruption, and introduced anti-dumping?

Every business must operate according to clear rules. In Ukraine, the provision of pest control services does not have a clear regulatory framework, which makes it possible to use the administrative resources of unscrupulous government agencies and creates corruption risks. The system of public procurement of services is unbalanced. The issue of public procurement cannot be resolved until the source of the problem is cleared – rules and customs based on strict adherence to the law and regulatory framework are established. Thanks to our experts, Viktor Harbuz and Oleksandr Tur, we have developed an ALGORITHM for transition to European rules.

In the UK and EU countries, the regulatory and technical regulation of this area is carried out by non-governmental organizations – BRA, CERA and others. The Pest Control of Ukraine NGO and the Institute of Pest Management, which regularly analyzes the market and gives recommendations to stakeholders, have responsibly selected a core of industry experts, and are establishing ties with government organizations and related associations, such as the Food Safety of Ukraine, which has taken a position in the market for training specialists. In the fumigation market, this function is performed by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection. This is how people involved in grain storage understand it due to the Ukrainian mentality. They do not pay attention to the fact that the SPS offers training only on SAFETY of working with pesticides and does not teach management and governance in any way.

Are we satisfied with the position in the Classifier of Economic Activities – other types of cleaning? Of course not. In Ukraine, the concept of “pest control” is not defined, and there is no specialty of pest control specialists in the qualification framework. All this can be fixed and put into effect, we have studied the algorithm of work together with the qualification agency. This took several years of expert work, consultations with the Ministry of Health, the State Tax Service, NAAU, NICE and other organizations. Now it is all possible to regulate!

A lot of work on standardization of services should be done in 2024. If we do not strengthen our organization, others will come, it is an axiom.
The main thing is that we have a professional standard and we will act strictly according to it. The only thing we need is your approval and support. I hope that we will receive such support at the Meeting of the Public Union “Pest Control Ukraine”, which will be held on June 14, 2024, live in Kyiv, at the VCENTRI HUB, 51b Volodymyrska St., starting at 12.00.

At the meeting of the Union on June 14, we will be able to strengthen the organization in terms of staff, resolve funding issues, and discuss the following issues:
