Is it possible to kill rats without a professional pest control service
The neighborhood with small rodents is very dangerous, as rats and mice not only spoil food, but can also transmit diseases. Therefore, when they appear in your home or business, you need to immediately address the issue of their destruction.
Many people try to do this on their own, using “folk” methods, among other things. But are they effective? Let’s try to figure it out.
Methods of rodent control
The easiest and most well-known way to get rid of mice and rats is to set traps and snares. This method is quite effective, but after each time you have to get rid of the caught rodents and set the bait again. At the same time, rats are considered intelligent animals, and over time, they simply stop responding to baits.

Often, chemicals and improvised means are used to kill rodents. These can include chlorine, naphthalene mixed with sawdust, gasoline or kerosene, formalin, and even birch tar. Chemicals can rid a home of uninvited guests for a long time, but they are often dangerous to human and pet health.
More effective methods include chemical treatment and electronic repellers. In stores, you can find many different drugs that can be used to either kill rodents or drive them off the property. In the first case, they are available in the form of granules, solutions, and aerosols, providing for a quick or long-lasting effect. Electronic repellers are considered more humane, as they simply suppress the rat’s psyche. At first, they will be effective, but then the rodents will still return.
Pest control service is the best method of rodent control
A one-time extermination of rodents usually has a short-lived effect. That is why it is worth entrusting this work to experienced specialists. In this case, you can count on a comprehensive approach, using professional – specialized – preparations based on the type and number of pests. This is especially important if the territory has been attacked by large rat colonies.
In this case, each of the selected drugs will act in its own way. Some ensure the immediate destruction of animals, while others involve the gradual accumulation of poison in their bodies and the subsequent infection of other rats in the colony.
