How to prepare for disinfestation of bedbugs and fleas in an apartment
Bedbugs and fleas are dangerous parasites that often bother residents of apartment buildings. The best way to rid your home of this problem is professional disinfestation. Modern comprehensive treatment of an apartment takes from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area and scale of the infestation.
But for the procedure to be as effective as possible, you need to prepare before the arrival of the masters, so in this article we will consider how to prepare an apartment for disinfestation and what to do after treatment.
General preparation for disinfestation from fleas and bedbugs
Considering that pests are very small and can hide in the smallest cracks, they are destroyed with aerosol preparations sprayed from a special device. Therefore, it is important to free up space as much as possible from furniture. Take out pets, including aquarium fish, fresh flowers – isolate them in a separate room, and when treating the entire apartment – take them out of the room.
Check the wallpaper for spots that are traces of bedbugs. If there are any, they will have to be removed and new ones glued after treatment.
Preparing individual rooms
Rooms
Wash/vacuum the floor, wipe the dust. Remove frequently used items. All furniture – free from things, spread out chairs, beds, sofas, leave the mattress separately, open drawers, etc. Bed linen should be boiled and ironed to destroy parasite nests.
Kitchen
Cutlery and dishes – wash in hot water, dry. Remove food from open space and close in airtight containers, put in the refrigerator. Empty the cabinets where you noticed insect traces and leave them open.
Bathrooms
Thoroughly wrap in plastic and put away hygiene items – towels, brushes, cosmetics, etc.
How to act during and after disinfestation
The room should be left for a few hours during the treatment period, closing the windows beforehand. If desired, it is permissible to stay in the apartment, but in special protective equipment that protects the skin, eyes and respiratory organs.
After disinfestation, the apartment should be ventilated for 30 minutes (usually this is done by the masters who carried out the treatment), and only after that you can return to the room.
Surfaces that you have to contact most often – door handles, table, light switches, etc. – should be wiped with a soda solution with soapy water 1:3, wearing gloves. A general cleaning can be carried out no less than after 2-3 weeks. You will also receive recommendations from disinfestators on preventing the reappearance of fleas and bedbugs.
Have you noticed at least one insect or traces of its vital activity? Do not wait for the parasites to spread throughout the apartment, because this is dangerous to health! Call the disinfestators. Now you know how to prepare for their visit so that the treatment is 100% effective.
